Robert D McCorquodale's Obituary
Robert Daniel “Bob” McCorquodale went home to be with our Lord February 23, 2017. He was born May 20, 1926 in Tampa, Florida. He lived in Hardee and Desoto Counties 36 years and moved to Sebring in 1998. He was a combat infantry veteran of World War II in the European Theatre of Operations. After attending the University of Miami, he commanded a AAA and Guided Missile Battery in a 13 month combat tour of Korea. He lived in St Petersburg 12 years before moving to the Florida Heartland after leaving military service. Bob was employed by Tropicana Products of Bradenton, retiring after 20 years as a field representative and was co-owner of MacBee Harvesting Inc. of Arcadia, Florida for 22 years. He was preceded in death by parents Bryant and Frances McCorquodale of Hardee County along with four sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Carolyn Futch McCorquodale and daughters Brenda Sue Givens and husband Richard of Sebring, Marjorie Lynn Mitchell and husband John of Okeechobee, Janis Ann Bass and husband Charles of Wauchula, and son Robert Bryan McCorquodale of Sebring in addition to three granddaughters, four grandsons and eight great-grandchildren. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church of Sebring and was very active in church work of the several Baptist churches where he was a deacon being ordained in 1961. He served faithfully teaching Sunday School 35 years, loved the Lord, and was a faithful witness for Jesus Christ. His deepest desire was to see people accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and to further God’s Kingdom of Earth. Bob’s life exemplified the great enduring qualities of Christian character, devotion, and integrity. Bob had a fun-loving sense of humor which made people like him. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the Salvation Army. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, 11:00 AM at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, FL
