Mr. Richard James Caracaus' Obituary
CARACAUS, Richard James, age 89, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in Sebring, Florida. He was born in Bronx, New York to Peter B. and Rose (Giorno) Caracaus. Mr. Caracaus was a Retired Miami-Dade Police Officer having served for many years after his service with the United States Coast Guard during World War II, after moving to Avon Park in 1988 he owned and operated a clock shop; he was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife-Mary E. Caracaus of Avon Park, Florida; sons-Peter Caracaus of Winter Haven, Florida, Charles Caracaus of Avon Park, Florida and Richard Caracaus, Jr. of Maitland, Florida; step-children-Charles Young of Pennsylvania and Catherine Buhai of California; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (with Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m.) at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park, Florida. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 18, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association, 322 Eighth Avenue 7th Floor, New York, New York 10001.
