Neida “Chiquita” Candanedo Grenier, 77, Sebring, Florida, passed away on May 26, 2012 in Clifton, Virginia under the loving care of her family. Ms. Candanedo was born on August 27, 1934 in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico to her parents Clotilde and Victoria Vasquez Candanedo. She joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1955 to 1958. After leaving the Marine Corps she worked as a Flight Attendant for Eastern Airlines for three years. She received her degree in Education from Gordon College and taught Spanish for over 20 years and was known as Senora Grenier at Masconomet Regional H.S. in Topsfield, Mass. She retired and moved from Danvers, Mass. to Sebring, Florida in 1991, where she enjoyed her love of flying and traveled extensively throughout the world visiting Europe, China, Australia and New Zealand. She is survived by her son: Miguel (Jean Marie) Grenier of Pembroke, NH.; a daughter: Isabelle (CAPT Ret. USCG Mark) Dolan of Clifton, VA.; two brothers: Manuel Candanedo of Ponce, Puerto Rico and Frank Candanedo of Lowell, MA.; three sisters: Lily Aponte of St. Petersburg, FL., Olga Goyco of Palm Harbor, FL. and Lydia Collazo of Framingham, MA.; five grandchildren: Casey, Jonathan, Gianna, Sydney and Neil. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 11:00am at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Avon Park, FL. Memorial contributions may be forwarded to the American Cancer Society.
