Karlene J Eberesbach's Obituary
Karlene (Karla) J. Ebersbach (Mattice) passed away at Good Shepherd Hospice, Sebring, FL on August 9, 2018. Karla was born in Albany, NY on September 29, 1942 to the late R. Elizabeth (Betty) Mattice (McBride) and John F. Mattice. She was raised in Johnstown, NY and graduated from Johnstown High School and attended State University of New York-Oswego.
She was employed as a paraprofessional at Avon Elementary School and retired with 29 years of service in 2005. She deeply cared for the children whose lives she touched. She also served as Den Mother and Brownie Troop Leader and as a volunteer for the Avon Park High School Grenadier Band.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Paul; sons Eric (Sheri) of Casselberry, FL and Stephen of Avon Park, FL; daughter Amy of West Palm Beach; and beloved granddaughter, Kirsten Cole (Charlie) of Blowing Rock, NC. Kirsten is entering the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s Program at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC this fall. Karla is also survived by siblings, Jacqueline of Johnstown, NY; John (Linda) of Wells, NY and David (Wendy) also of Johnstown along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and an amazing circle of friends. She was predeceased by her parents, brother George and sister June.
Karla was an avid reader and proficient cross-stitcher. The homes of family, friends and friends of family are adorned with her artistry. She especially enjoyed cross-stitches for babies and weddings. She also enjoyed shopping for bargains at yard sales and local thrift shops. She was always sharing her finds with family and friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 10:00 AM with the service at 11:00 AM at Stephenson Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park, FL.
