Jerry D Chasteen's Obituary
Jerry D. Chasteen, age 79, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 in Sarasota, Florida and went home to be with his Lord. He was born on May 31, 1936 in Lake City, Florida to the late John Fred and Olga (Hicks) Chasteen. Jerry came to Highlands County in 1978 from Orlando and spent his career in the restaurant industry. A veteran serving in the U.S. Army, Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He had a love for music and even wrote a song titled “Mississippi”. While in college, at the University of South Carolina, Jerry was a member of the football team and was very proud to be a “Gamecock”. Jerry loved his family and friends and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Survivors include his wife, Mickey Chasteen-Lorida, FL, his children, Rob (Shelly); Lyn (Todd); Melissa (Brad) and his six grandchildren, Katie; Robin; Finley; Ellie; Allison and Grace. There will be a funeral service on Thursday, July 2, 2015, 1:00pm, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Sebring. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00pm. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, FL.
