Homer S. Wood's Obituary
Homer S. Wood “Woody”, 83, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Wednesday April 8, 2015. He was the son of Emma Lou and William Lester Wood, Woody was born on July 16, 1931 in Guilford County, NC. Woody served his country with honor in the US Army stationed in Germany, then re-enlisting in the US Air Force. After being discharged Woody went to work as a carpenter and cabinet maker in the wood working industry in Miami, FL. He moved to Lake Placid in 1982 and continued working until his retirement in the woodworking industry. Woody was of the Baptist faith and a member of the American Legion Placid Post 25 and the VFW Post 3880 in Lake Placid. He enjoyed woodworking, making plaques with pictures, furniture and loved being with his family and friends. Mr. Wood is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Dorothy; daughters, Jacqueline Eaton (Thomas), Judy Chandler and Lynn Wallace (Ed); son, Randy Wood (Perry); 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and a brother William Lester Wood. A funeral service to celebrate Woody’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Friday April 17, 2015 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Rev. Richard Norris officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Military Honors by the VFW Post 4300 Honor Guard will follow at the Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
