Glenna Irene Williams' Obituary
Irene Williams, age 83 passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2016 in Avon Park, Florida. She was born on November 3, 1932 in London, Kentucky to the late Woodson and Ellen Sweet Rush. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Avon Park and an avid doll collector.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Ollie Tuller and Vina Nicholson, and a brother Rev. Denvis Rush. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clay Williams, daughter Linda (Ronald) Laye, son Bill (Brenda) Williams all of Avon Park. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Allison Loomis, Orange Park, Florida; Leslie (Richard) Adams, Maitland, Florida; Matthew (Summer) Laye, Avon Park, Florida; Augustus and Cole Williams, Avon Park, Florida; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew and Dylan Loomis; Grace, Alexander and Kate Adams; Emerson and Cullen Laye; sister, Chrystaline Weaver, London Kentucky and a brother, Daw Rush, London, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church Avon Park on Monday, February 29 at 3:00 PM with Dr. Howard Lehman and Rev. Stephen Henderson presiding. The family will receive visitors 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, Florida.
The Williams family wishes to extend special thanks to Angela Thomas for her devotion as a wonderful caregiver for the past 2 years, to Cornerstone Hospice and staff for their compassion, care and support; and to all the friends and family who made Irene’s life a bit happier through visits and encouragement.
