Mr. Elmer Charles Burgoon Jr.'s Obituary
Elmer Charles Burgoon, Jr., 80, Avon Park, FL, formerly of Howell, MI, passed away on January 29, 2015 in Sebring, FL. Mr. Burgoon was born on November 27, 1934 in Richmond, Indiana to his parents Elmer C. Burgoon, Sr. and Mildred I. (Crouch) Burgoon. Mr. Burgoon was employed as a Regional Sales Manager in the Footwear Industry for SCOA Industries, US Shoe and Brown Shoe Co. He was raised in Richmond, IN and graduated from Indiana University in 1957 with a BS Degree in marketing. He and his wife moved 12 years ago to Avon Park, FL from Howell, MI. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park, FL. He was a member and past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and was very active in various charities during his life. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry from 1957 to 1966. He enjoyed woodworking, playing the drums, jazz music, reading, fishing and playing golf. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Lynn Merlo Burgoon of Avon Park, FL; three sons: Michael C. Burgoon (Sharon) of Boyer Town, PA; Mark P. Burgoon of Denver, CO; and James A. Burgoon of Wilmington, DE; a brother: Jerry A. Burgoon (Julie) of Ooltewah, TN.
