Margery Fuller
April 3, 1917 - December 29, 2017
Margery Belle Fuller was born on April 3, 1917 in Antigo, Wisconsin, the first child of Caroll and Hazel Fuller. In 1919, Margery’s family moved to a farm near Oshkosh, where her father had a milk route and sold milk. In her high school years in the depression, Marge moved into town, got a job for room, board and 50 cents a week for spending money. This enabled Marge to finish her high school education in 1935. During her high school years, one of Marge’s friends invited her to attend church. During this time, she realized her need for salvation and accepted Christ on March 17, 1935. Following high school, Marge attended the state teacher’s college in Oshkosh, graduating from the Rural Course in June 1937; after which she taught for four years in a one room rural school. In the fall of 1941, she enrolled at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, graduating from the Christian Education course in 1943. At a mission’s conference, she had “yielded her life to the Lord to serve Him whenever He would lead,” but she still wasn’t sure where that would be. Following a year of work in an orphanage in Colorado, she returned to MBI to take missionary courses that had not been a part of her Christian Education training. She then applied to SIM, was accepted and sailed for Nigeria in October 1945. For the next 30 years, Marge faithfully served as a teacher in 4 or 5 different schools, from the Kagoro Teacher Training school to the Miango Secondary school. During this time she also continued her own education, finishing a BS degree in Upper Elementary Education in 1971. In 1982, Marge retired and came home to Oshkosh to be near her mother in her last years. Following the death of her mother in the spring of 1986, Marge made plans to move to the SIM Retirement Village in Sebring and arrived in late October 1986. She attended Southside Baptist Church and was a lifelong student of the Bible. Marge passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on December 29, 2017. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at SIM chapel, 900 Andes Dr., Sebring, FL. 33875, with a graveside service immediately following at Lakeview Memorial Gardens of Avon Park. Memorial contributions may be made to SIM, 4114 Nigeria St., Sebring, FL. 38875
